Can I work part time?
Yes.
Some employees choose to work two, three or four days per
week.
How can I get to work?
A
public bus (609)
runs to Roytal from the Kew and Fairfield areas. Car parking
is also available and taxi services can be arranged.
Would I have to stay on the one job all of the time?
No. Supervisors and Support staff will make sure that you
have a chance to work on many different jobs. We call this
Job Rotation.
What types of work do you have?
Roytal offers a wide variety of work opportunities. You
may work in one or all of our three main areas. You might
be involved in packaging and assembly, making brushes, and
producing wire goods.
What are the working hours?
Work starts at 8.30 a.m. and finishes at 4.30 p.m. On Fridays
there is a 4.00 p.m. finish. This allows people a little
bit extra time to go to the bank and do some shopping.
How many people work at Roytal?
More than 100 people work at Roytal.
Will I get paid for my work?
Yes.
Will I lose my pension?
People can earn up to $116.00 per fortnight before their
level of pension is effected. Even if you earn more than
this, you will still be better off financially.
Do I need to have certain skills and abilities before
I come to Roytal?
Having skills and abilities from past experience can often
help you to get a job at Roytal. We are also happy to provide
those with limited experience and abilities with a chance
to work. As we have a wide range of jobs, all with different
requirements, we are able to support a wide range of people
who have a wide range of abilities.
What type of training do you provide?
Roytal is a Registered
Training Organisation. This means that some of the training
that we deliver is recognised throughout Australia. Training
is workplace related and is delivered both on and off the
job. Some people may also be able to access literacy and
numeracy training.
Does Roytal organise social activities for workers
after work or on the week-ends?
No. Roytal is a work place and its focus is very much work
related. Employees often form their own groups and organise
activities amongst themselves.
What age do I have to be before I can work at Roytal?
To obtain a permanent job, we would like people to be aged
at least 18. We do provide work experience for younger people
aged 16 or over.
What if I have not worked for a long time?
All new workers at Roytal go though a Work
Trial. This will help you build up your confidence and
work skills. There is lots of training on the job and support
for those who have not worked for some time.
Can Roytal help me to find a job in Open Employment?
Yes. People who have the skills and motivation required
to work in Open
Employment can be referred to a number of specialist Open Employment services that Roytal has links with.
Do I receive holidays?
Full time employees receive 20 days annual leave and 10
rostered days off every year.
What happens if I am unwell and can’t work?
Just ring and let us know as soon as you can. Full time
workers are entitled to 12 days of paid sick leave every
year.
Do you support only those people with a certain
disability type?
No. All people are welcome to apply for work, regardless
of their disability. To be eligible for our service, Centrelink
must confirm that you are entitled to access a Disability
Service Provider.
Do you help with toileting and medication?
Roytal does not provide these types of supports. All employees
must be able to attend to their own self-care needs.
